Sirens Call Publications is pleased to announce the open submission call for the 26th issue of The Sirens Call featuring all men! The theme for this issue is ‘Dreamscapes of the Wicked’ and for this issue, we’re asking for the men to bring us their best works of horror exploring this theme.
Men of horror, here is your chance to be the featured villains… pardon us, we mean authors, in our ‘All Men – All Horror’ April issue of The Sirens Call eZine.
As is our tradition, we are putting a spin on the all-women’s eZine call, and offering the gentlemen a chance to write on a similar, yet varied theme. We are looking for submissions of stories, flash fiction, and poetry that feature Dreamscapes of the Wicked. What does this mean? It means your story must adhere to the following:
- The main protagonist must be an individual who through malicious or harmful intent engages in wrong-doings, or deliberately causes harm to come to others. This individual must be wicked to the core with no valiant change of heart at the end. We want characters committed to their evil ways, and will accept no ‘hapless victims’ for this call.
- The antagonist must reside in, be drawn from, or be the personification of the protagonist’s dreamscape. The antagonist can be an individual, a creature, or the dream world itself that terrorizes your main character. We aren’t restricting what type of terror you choose to employ, only where it originates and ultimately resides.
The dreamscape featured in your piece can be a living daremare, or a night terror, but it must be a horror tale born of a dream. We do not want stories describing what a nightmare a mundane nine-to-five job is – be imaginative and create your own unique set of horrific circumstances.
The final thing we ask is that you give the tale a bit of sting. Use your Y chromosome to delve into the societal misconception that men are prone to less savory thoughts; be the rapscallion you have unjustly been deemed and make the most Machiavellian wordsmith cringe!
